ROTATING PAINTINGS : a painting that you turn on its axis, so four paintings in one!

«The woman is the most beautiful landscape» according to Van Dongen. But my goal is to forget the subject and to concentrate on the composition: evacuate the subject in order to make a painting that works in each of the four positions, which is much more complicated than in one position. And then to even better find back the figurative subject in each of the four positions: a work of art that expresses something that is not immediately apparent.

Colors, colors, only the colors: I favor a palette of flashy «supermarket colors», limited to a few tones that finally assembled give a strong but soft painting.

TRANSFORMABLE PAINTINGS : because what could be more monotonous than a static painting…

A painting composed by a fixed background and mobile slats which cover half of it and on which a personage is drawn, so half of it. This figurative subject becomes abstract when the mobile slats are moved according to your fantasy.

Few colors: white with primary blue and yellow in order to obtain strong contrasts that force your eyes to search, to separate the figurative and the abstract parts…

EVOLVING PAINTING: how to evolve from figurative painting to abstract painting?

The classical figurative painting remains the basis, such as the painting “The Turkish Bath” finished in 1862 by Ingres after he himself had reworked and reconfigured it for 10 years.

Then, taking an extract from this painting as a base, it is transformed in 4 steps to become an abstract painting but which retains its figurative roots.

Four colors each declined in 2 tones and whose surfaces extend progressively, and with contours which gradually thicken to become more and more part of the composition.

OLD PAINTING CUT AND REASSEMBLED: how to make new with old?

An old painting, perfectly failed, without any interest and without any value, can become an interesting base for a contemporary reconstruction. This originally figurative subject becomes abstract when it is cut into pieces and when each piece, equipped with a hanging system, is reassembled according to your fantasy.

The original colors reassemble and blend harmoniously.
